On April 26, 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium, the Winnipeg Falcons hockey team won the first ever Olympic Gold medal in hockey, making Canada the first country to take home that honour. April 26, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the historic win that began the long tradition of Canadian Olympic hockey success. The story of the Winnipeg Falcons evokes a feeling of great pride in the heart of all Canadians of Icelandic descent and embodies the spirit of our immigrant nation.
